So what is involved with getting my business advertising online?

Step 1: Purchase a setup package - If you cannot determine the type of package you will need or need a few things customized contact us.  A Qualified Google Pro can quickly respond to determine your needs.

Step 2: Supply Billing Info for Google AdWords.  Once your campaign is being created we will need to supply Google with your preferred credit card.  At this time we will apply any promotional credits (if applicable).  Google charges a $5 sign up fee. We recommend you take a look at google's policy for billing.

Step 3: We launch the start of your new AdWords account and start monitoring.  At this time Google will start learning your website.  This is a big part of Google so companies can't just spring up out of no where (fly by night companies).  They will scan the text ads for trademark issues, quality of ads, and the quality of the website.  If they find a problem they will disapprove the ad until the problem has been changed.  Once they have approved the ads then they give you a quality score (what is a quality score?).  The qualify score will determine your Cost per Click ( CPC ).  You just started and you won't have a "Click through Rate"! This results in your CPC naturally being higher with a lower conversion rate because of a low quality score.  During this time we will monitor heavily to make needed changes in CPC's to make sure your account is getting the correct attention and moving in the right direction.  That is why the first month of management is on SiteSourcePro.com, Inc.  Your success is our #1 concern.

Step 4: We suggest a management plan to keep your account running at its highest possible value for your dollar.

What is the Google Search Network?

Opting into Google's search network lets your ad be shown on the search results pages of our high-quality partners. These partners include search sites as well as shopping comparison engines. Ads are targeted to users' search queries, so that your ad will appear only if a user is searching for information related to your campaign's keywords.

All ads served to the search network are contextually-targeted text ads. Advertisers cannot use site-targeting to select individual search network sites. In addition, image ads are reserved for the content network, and will not appear on search network sites. Text ad formatting can vary slightly from site to site, and will be automatically adjusted by our system.

Where will my ads appear on the Google Search Network?

Your keyword-targeted ads will appear alongside or above the results on Google search results pages.

Additionally, your ads may appear on search and content sites, and on other products such as domains and blogs, in the Google Network. The Google Network is the largest advertising network available online, reaching over 86% of Internet users worldwide. You can be certain that your ads reach your target audience with Google AdWords.

In the search network, your ads may appear alongside or above search results, as part of a results page as a user navigates through a site's directory, or on other relevant search pages. Google's global search network includes Froogle and Google Groups and the following entities: AOL, Netscape, Netcenter, EarthLink, CompuServe, Shopping.com, AT&T Worldnet, Ask.com, and more...

What is the Google Content Network ?

Google's ad serving system reads and understands the content and context of a web page, and relates this information to your campaign's keywords. Your ads will be served only to pages whose content closely matches your keywords, so that you're provided with a targeted audience with an established interest in your message.

Google's extensive content network of websites and products includes these partners: About.com, Lycos, nytimes.com, InfoSpace, Reed Business, howstuffworks, business.com, food network.com, HGTV.com, and more...

AdWords ads on content sites are targeted anew each time they show to the content and URL of each page. In the screenshot below from the Miami Herald, you can see that the ads are directly relevant to articles on the NBA playoffs.

AdWords technology ensures that your ads appear in the most relevant locations across the Web so that customers find you.

How do I know my AdWords campaign is a success?

While using a client manager to manage your AdWords account is a good start to achieving a strong ROI, it's also important that you regularly check your own AdWords campaign performance status. To do so, you'll need your account's login email and password.

Also, we suggest that you request weekly or monthly account performance reports from your client manager, such as keyword metrics and conversion tracking reports. These will help you determine your campaign's success.

What happens if I change client managers?

Your account will not be affected by this change. A client account can be linked to or unlinked from a client manager account without losing your campaign history or your access to any AdWords program features. In order to change managers, you'll need your email and password to log in to your account. While you have access to unlink your account from a client manager's account, a client manager and your Client Service Representative only have the ability to link accounts.

To unlink your account from your client manager's account, please follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your AdWords account .
  2. Click the My Account tab.
  3. Click User Preferences .
  4. Under Client Manager Account Access, click Disable manager access .
  5. Click OK .

Once unlinked, you can ask your new client manager to link your account to your new manager's account.

What is a campaign?

A campaign consists of one or more Ad Groups. The ads in a given campaign share the same daily budget, language and location targeting, end dates, and syndication options.

What is a Ad Group?

An Ad Group contains one or more ads which target one set of keywords or sites. The advertiser sets a maximum cost per click (CPC) or cost per thousand impressions (CPM) for all the keywords or sites in the Ad Group. The advertiser may also set prices for individual keywords or sites within the Ad Group.

What is a Text Ad?

Concise, action-oriented copy that links to your website. Also known as a sponsored link.

What is a Keyword?

The keywords you choose for a given Ad Group are used to target your ads to potential customers.

What is a Site-Targeted Campaign?

Your site-targeted ads will appear next to relevant content on sites in the Google Network that you choose. You pay on a cost-per-thousand impressions (CPM) basis, paying for how often your ad is seen.

What is conversion tracking?

In online advertising, a conversion occurs when a click on your ad leads directly to user behavior you deem valuable, such as a purchase, signup, page view, or lead. Google has developed a tool to measure these conversions, and ultimately, help you identify how effective your AdWords ads and keywords are for you.

What is Google Smart Pricing?

Because contextually targeted ads on our content network sometimes return lower conversion numbers than ads on Google.com search results pages, clicks from the content network use "smart pricing" adjustments. Google's smart pricing technology automatically lowers the cost of content clicks based on the referring site, to maximize the return on investment for advertisers.

If our data shows that clicks from a particular content page are less likely to return results, our system automatically reduces the price the advertiser pays for those clicks. The AdWords system takes the work out of CPC bidding, helping to ensure strong return on investment no matter where your ads appear. Smart pricing adjustments are automatically reflected in the average CPC for content targeting shown in the Campaign Management interface.

As an example of smart pricing, consider two websites, each related to digital photography. The first page features digital camera reviews, while the second offers photography tips. Clicks from the page of photography tips might be charged less, because they are expected to convert into sales less frequently, resulting in lower value for advertisers. Google data determines that clicks from the digital camera reviews convert better, so clicks from this page are not discounted.
